The Program Manager will oversee our 8-week summer internship program (starting June 19) for 15-20 high school and college students who are interested in advancing the science and practice of character development. Interns will learn about user experience design principles, research methodology, and prior research on character strengths in order to hack or create their own interventions. To this end, the Program Manager will have great creative freedom in overseeing the programming and intern development through planning day-to-day activities and training sessions, and will work with Character Lab staff to ensure the program fits the interests and needs of both interns and researchers. Reporting to our Research Manager (Emily Aisenbrey), as well as collaborating with other staff and postdoctoral fellows, the Program Manager will step into a role that combines a passion for working with young people, a knowledge of applied research, and strong project management skills to create a summer intern program that is well-organized, educational, and engaging for all parties. As interns progress through their training and work on exciting research projects, the Program Manager will be their first point of contact for ongoing questions, support, and scheduled feedback. We are looking for an individual who has experience with applied research and with supervising teens or young adults. The right candidate has strong interpersonal skills, enjoys taking initiative and solving problems, and will thrive with minimal oversight.
